BE A PART OF THE T-SHIRT HELL FREELANCE ARTIST GROUP
T-Shirt Hell is seeking freelance artists with t-shirt design experience. We are one of the Internet's largest t-shirt companies and have been in business since 2001. Our shirts feature edgy, provocative, politically incorrect humor and we produce well over 100 new t-shirt designs a year. We've been featured in major magazines such as Playboy, Maxim, and Esquire.
HOW WE DO THINGS
The artists who work for us are given individual assignments and work from home. Artists are given guidelines with respect to accepted file formats and color restrictions in advance. We generally limit our colors to 2-3 total colors or less per design. In general, you will have 5-7 days to complete an assignment during which time you will receive feedback and direction from us. There will most likely be a number of revisions during this time. Upon completion, the design goes into an approval process, which ultimately will decide whether or not it goes live on the site. What this means, is that there will be times when you've worked on some art for us to completion, but it will not end up chosen to be on the website.
If your work makes it to the site, you will be paid somewhere in the range of $50 (for font only shirts) up to $400 (for extremely complex and multi-color shirts. Most designs end up fitting somewhere in the middle of that range. In addition, you will also get free publicity on each shirt design you create. Your name and a link to your website (if you have one) will appear on the enlarged graphic. (If you wish, you may also elect to have your artwork remain anonymous on the website.)
If your work does not make it to the site, you will not actually receive full payment for your work. We will give you a "conciliation" payment of $25 in these cases, just as a gesture of trying to give you something for your work. This consolatory prize will only be awarded on designs that require actual design elements, not plain font shirts.
HOW TO APPLY
Fill out the CONTACT US form on our Info/Faq page and include links to your work online. There is no need to send your resume or a form letter. If you have relevant job experience feel free to mention it briefly in your message. (Please, only contact us if you have an online portfolio with examples. We will only look at direct links to your work.)
If you want to make more of an impression, you have the option to skip directly to this step when contacting us. (It does make our job of finding artists much easier.) Go to our site and pick any of our current designs/slogans and feel free to improve upon the design or to create a completely new version based on your own vision. Upload it to your portfolio and include a link to the design/designs. Most likely this will NOT be on the website and you will not be paid for it. The point is just to show us what you can do.
